Default pain in lower legs and ankles

My wife started to complain of the subject pain on Monday and her walking became very poor. The district nurse suggested we use Co Dydramol, however by yesterday afternoon I had to call out the GP as the pain had got worse. He prescribed a combination of Oromorph and a Butrans patch. Whilst this alleviated the pain, I noticed tonight when I was getting Lyn ready for bed, her ankles were swollen and covered in blotchy rash. Could be a reaction to the medication or the reason for the pain. Anyone out there had similar experiences. Ken

I don't know if this would have any real relevence but when I wear nicorette patches they bring me out in a swollen rash. I'm wondering if it could be something to do with the sticky stuff they use that we are sensitive to?
Also my daughter suffered pain in her lower legs & ankles too. Massage & pain relief helped her to a degree.

Hi All

Usually the answer to this type of pain is simple analgesia such as paracetamol or brufen, these seem to be the most effective

My husband uses Butrans patches for back pain. When the patch is changed the site of the original patch is red and blotchy and he complains of a slight itchiness. However, they do relieve his back pain and greatly improve his quality of life so he is happy to put up with it.
Hope you find the right treatment for Lyn.

Best wishes
