I think there is something that has not been mentioned here which could solve a lot of issues for people not wanting to pass on the gene to their children without going down the PGD route or if it fails. I tested positive for the HD gene about 3 years ago and spent a long time reading Angela F's wonderful blog Surviving Huntingtons in which she talk in depth about the impact that the PGD process had on her and how upsetting it was to have nothing to show for it. In the end she went abroad to have egg donation IVF and I have never wanted to do anything else since that time. I am researching clinics at the moment hoping to match with a donor and cycle early next year. Something to consider.
