Default My speech at an HD Conference Friday

On Friday I was asked to do a presentation as a family member at a conference in Exeter for Professionals. The conference was entitled Huntington's Disease- Shaping the Future. This was my public-speaking debut so please be gentle with me! Here's the link to it http://uk.video.yahoo.com/watch/4944907/13167450

A great speech with lots of very well made points.

I have not done much research into the HD side of my family . My grand father had HD . The family was from Yorkshire and sur name Iles but don't know if he had brothers or sisters . Like you say HD disconnects people.

I am so proud of you, well done for speaking out about HD. My family too has split up massively over it all and we only found out about it 10 yrs ago in our family. My dads mum died when he was very young, we think now it came from her side. We know nothing about her but you are inspiring me on to search out her family as we never knew them and who else has been affected.

Your comments about family displaced in this storm, has hit home so true in my situation ;-(

Thanks Jacqueline. I agree with you about the "rareness" situation, I think the statistics are just the tip of the iceberg, openness can only help :o)
