I'm really chuffed

I'm attending a thing next week and there is a session on the following:

• Give examples of what “distress” means? ACUTE / short-term & CHRONIC / Long-term

• How do you know someone is in distress, when it’s not obvious?

• How would it help if we knew a person is in distress?

My poem 'The Help' is being read out to introduce the Session -See below:-

There is another thread in another Forum about recognising pain/distress so, as the event is a neurology event, it's good to hear they are focussing on how to recognise and handle distress.

She sits in chair, her sloping frame,
The nurse runs by, no sound she hears.
She cannot speak the nurse’s name;
The uniform, it disappears.

Her eyes look round for someone who,
May stop a while and notice how,
Her arm is twisted, cannot move,
Her eyes are filling, crying now.

Another patient sees her face,
And grabs the cleaner; holds her tight.
She shouts that “Irene needs a hand”;
She gets shrugged off with “She’s alright.”

And so it goes for half an hour,
Til finally her family near.
And in a flash, staff rally round,
“Now Irene.... Let us help you dear”.

Default Remembering Steve in Kindle :)

Hi all,

Sorry I have not been in much lately (lots of reasons) but hope all are as well as can be expected.

I had hoped to be at tomorrows' Herts Fayre sellling books on the book stand but due to a family illness I can't make it I'm afraid.

One of my little projects and targets was to get Curse in Verse and Much More Worse on Kindle (electronic bookstore). I set myself a date of having it published in time for Steve on Remembrance Day.

The book is now on although there are still a few tweeks to be made I figure they can wait. All comments gratefully received

I have given below a link to the UK Amazon Kindle Page; a link to the USA site that has a 'Look Inside' feature, and also a link to the Kindle for PC application. I don't even own a Kindle but use the application to download and read books on my PC

Take care everyone

The one year anniversary of Steve's death will be in 3 weeks time (Jan 27th). I will come back to Messy Board on a more regular basis hopefully after then and I'm sorry I'm not offering more advice and this looks like I'm just interested in promoting the book. I'm afraid I've been a bit preoccupied to think of others so pleae forgive me.

My eldest brother died last night (Fred who had been sufferring from Cancer). Another brother is still recovering from a ruptured vein on the brain which just missed being in the brain though which was VERY lucky bless him although news of our eldest brother's death isn't helping as you can imagine!

All in all I'm hoping my New Year starts in Feb.

I'll be back as they say.
