# questioning content/presentation is natural but once you have the product how you envision it then leave it alone and build a 'brand'
# make it as easy as possible for people to choose and buy immediately they decide to purchase
# look, by all means, for a second/similar product to build on the first product but do not be surprised if it is impossible to attain.
# occasionally give the product away to advertise it

-and on the big plus side:
# be pleased that all readers now know your loved one's name!
# you have created awareness more than you could ever imagine!
# you have challenged yourself throughout the process of writing/publishing.

Wishing you continued strength to carry on without Steve...

Brian.
Thank you for your kind and wise words as ever Brian! I was on a bit of a low as you may have gathered when I wrote that post but it's as you say... readers will now know Steve's name. The other day I had to phone an organisation to update them of my marital status. The stupid eejit at the end of the phone kept saying they would note my details and send me a form to change my name. I had to repeat several times "NO! - I am not changing my name, just my status!" "I am still Mrs Dainton" I marvel at the state of society these days as it seemed the operator/computer system couldn't handle a widow I'm proud to be keeping Steve's name alive.

As for the strength to carry on... I wish you continued strength too. Good days and bad days eh..?

While I am in here

Quick plug for the book

CURSE IN VERSE AND MUCH MORE WORSE, Available from most online book sellers.

Click on links to see the shops and reviews.
The review at the end of this post is from Jimmy Pollard. It's a great honour to have him think so highly of my amateur scribbles

AMAZON

AMAZON-KINDLE

HDA SHOP Scroll down the page for the book part and don't forget there are lots of lovely gifts and stocking fillers to buy

Written by Jimmy Pollard:
'Trish cared for her late husband Steve through his long course of Huntington's Disease. This book, however, is about so much more. It's a love story. The depth of love she has for her husband just oozes from the pages. It's about caring for anyone you love who has a progressive disease and/or progressing disability and dependence on others for care. That includes aging.

It's about caring love and providing care and all that it entails. Respect and admiration for the one in your care and the courage and endurance they have. It's about all the little challenges carers face that annoy, befuddle and sometimes bemuse them. It's about precious moments as well as mundane moments. It's a how-to manual for the carer to appreciate all they give and all they give up...and some tricks of the carer's trade.

It's both prose and poetry but the poems will stick with you. I suspect that anybody who reads it will be touched by how she captures moments that you never thought were shared by anyone else.

I could go on and on about how this book touched me. Suffice it to say, if you've got so far as to read this review, just buy the book. It is very unique in its ability to encourage you when life as a carer looks pretty discouraging. If you're facing a progressive disability yourself, I suspect you'll draw some reassurance from seeing how much love and care can be showered upon you.'

'Ello, 'ello, 'ello .........

Trish - could you please empty/organise your private message inbox as it's overflowing and likely to cause an e-mess. It won't accept any more messages until you sort out your clutter ......

Thanks

Job is going well thank you. The people there are very supportive and the travelling isn't too bad. Still feel guilty leaving Steve at home at it were but I leave the radio and light on.

Bumpety, Bumpety time for book and also a reminder that we are now over 11 months into the 12 months for the E-Petition to run. We currently have 3,747 signatures but we need many MANY more!

Curse in Verse - Amazon (Other bookshops are stocking)

Curse in Verse - Amazon Kindle

Also available from the HDA Shop You need to scroll down to the bottom of the Shop Page for Books.

And a little ditty while I am in here:

If you are reading this here verse,
You have the internet,
So please take just a minute,
If you haven't done so yet.

To open up the link below,
And have a little read,
Of an E-Petition "wot I wrote" [That one's for Eric and Ernie fans btw]
On which we're all agreed
.

I'm not asking for money,
Or for any large amount,
Just a typey tappy signature,
On which a vote will count.

I've put the word out far and wide,
And tried HDA News,
But the signatures do not display,
A large amount of views.

I've had a go at Twitter,
And although I've been so nice,
I'm seen to be a nuisance,
As they've bloomin banned me twice!

So I'm urging all you people,
If you haven't done so yet,
Do the signing straight away,
Or else you may forget.

You may have signed already;
I'm sorry I'm a pain,
But just to be quite certain,
Can you please try once again?

The register of signatures,
Looks such a small amount,
That it may be where not verified,
Your signatures don't count.

So if you try another time,
You'll soon be sent a note,
That you've done the thing already,
And you've made your casting vote.

Where not going the whole way through,
It may suggest a fail,
Insofar as you may not have clicked,
The link sent by E-mail

If you do not get, or can't recall,
An e-mail to click on,
The chances are the mail is there,
But in your Spam has gone [Or Junk if you prefer ]

CLICKY HERE

THANK YOU!

Just thought I'd bump this thread for any of you folk that haven't seen it. Trishes' book is very good, worth a read and all that. She's been there, done it and got the (oversized) t-shirt, so these poems really are from the heart.

If you want a copy just click on the coloured links in the post above.
